Interface Security Systems' is looking to hire a Network Engineer.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States.  

The Network Engineer is a highly knowledgeable member of a team responsible for developing WAN infrastructure solutions that meet or exceed business performance expectations.  The position is responsible for implementing a wide variety of WAN network architectures and creating the necessary tools to manage and maintain the design.  The Network Engineer is responsible for device configurations, installations, maintenance, lifecycle, and monitoring. 

The member of this team will work closely with other team members to implement new and maintain existing WAN network designs to fulfill customer requirements and would leverage a variety of network vendor’s hardware in various configurations to achieve stated goals.

Network Engineer Essential Functions:

  • Work with Network Architecture team and implement new vendor solutions in support of customer goals.
  • Work with help desk as an escalation resource to solve customers and internal company personnel tickets.
  • Implementing and configuring new core/aggregation/access switches, routers and firewalls.
  • Interact with customers to assist in changes to network designs and provide recommendations based on accepted industry practices.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate those requirements into a functioning and manageable network design.
  • Develop knowledge of various networking vendor capabilities and limitations.
  • Work closely with networking vendors to implement an efficient and supportable network design and be able to identify issues during implementation and support phases.
  • Develop support processes for network engineers and help desk personnel to install and support the network design.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training material on new and existing network designs.
  • Assist help desk support with questions related to ongoing support and change requests of network designs.
  • Continuing education to maintain networking expertise and knowledge of current and emerging networking technologies.
  • Establish standards and procedures for best practices involving network and network management related issues.
  • Participate in an after-hours and holiday on-call rotation with other network engineers.

Job Requirements

Network Engineer Qualifications

  • Strong networking background with a wide breadth of knowledge in available networking protocols and services.
  • Strong knowledge of firewall implementation, adminstration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Scripting/programming experience desired.  Perl, Python, and PHP preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks independently.
  • Ability to present complex networking ideas in an understandable and relate-able fashion
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate the business and application needs into solution architecture requirements and design.
  • Appreciation of risk management, change management, and configuration management.
  • Ability to integrate various technologies into complete solutions.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VPN.  
  • Preferred Vendor Experience: Cisoc, Fortinet, Meraki
  • Preferred Certifications: CCNA/CCNP/NSE-4/NSE-7
