Interface is seeking a strong and experienced leader to manage our Innovation and Optimization Team in Earth City, Missouri.  

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Innovation & Optimization Team Manager role is a combination of project and people management.  This is a new role within our organization and the I&O Manager will initially manage a small and diverse team of 3-6 direct reports with plans for growth.  Project management and past experience of successful leadership is essential. 

This team is comprised of data analysts, engineering experts, software experts, and information exchange agents.  Along with the direct reports, the I&O Manager will have working relationships with other department’s leadership, and 3rd party partners and vendors. The I&O Manager will be located in our corporate Earth City office and report to the SVP of I&O. In addition to team management, the I&O Manager will serve as project manager for many innovation and optimization projects.  Primary responsibility for those will be to maintain project Gantts, and reports.  Along with managing the workload of the direct reports as it pertains to those projects. 

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite required, as well as Gantt chart creation and maintenance. Security and/or Broadband industry experience is a plus, but not required.  Applicant should be a great communicator with the ability to relate to and work with, a variety of personalities and roles within the organization.  Applicant should also be able to provide structure to a team while working in fluid and dynamic environment.  Applicant must be a self-starter, with the ability to work and manage without the need of daily input from SVP.  Work schedule will mostly be standard business hours, however, the Manager must be open to working on occasion during non-standard hours, as we have partners located in multiple time zones around the world, that require near daily interaction, and meetings times can vary to accommodate those groups. 

Some limited travel may be required, however, one of the main functions of this role will be to provide local daily management of the Earth City team, giving the ability to work in person with all corporate personnel.  Thus, most travel will be performed by the SVP as needed while keeping in contact with the I&O manager in Corporate HQ.  Applicant must be process and structure oriented, but with the ability to work with an imaginative team of free thinkers-providing structure and the work discipline needed, while not stifling the free-thinking spirit required for a team tasked with coming up with innovations and optimized out-of-the-box thinking.  A laptop and company cell phone will be provided.

  • Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Industry/Security/Broadband experience preferred, but not required
  • Limited travel, possibly 5% required (newly created position, subject to change)
  • Strong Project Management and People Management Experience
  • Ability to initiate and grow teams
